WCCC offers babysitting safety training for ages 11 and up through June | News, Sports, Jobs

The Washington County Career Center – Adult Technical Training is in its second year of providing child care safety training to the community.

The training is recommended for people 11 years and older who provide child care and child care. The training gives participants everything they need to know to babysit safely and successfully. Areas covered include starting their new business, basic care, first aid and responding to sick or injured children under appropriate supervision. Upon successful completion of the course, participants receive the ASHI (American Safety and Health Institute) card.

The course is led by instructor, Jennifer Shoup. Shoup has over 15 years of experience teaching safety and health courses and is an ASHI Certified Instructor. Shoup makes the course easy for everyone to understand by implementing hands-on activities and real-life scenarios. This keeps participants active and engaged.

The course is available for groups or individuals and courses will only be offered in April, May and June. The cost is $45 per person and lasts 4 hours. Class sizes are limited due to the practical structure.
