Preston matron to parachute for Lancashire University Hospital children’s appeal
A Preston matron will travel to Lancaster Airfield in August to jump 10,000ft from a plane as part of a charity fundraiser for the hospital.
On Saturday August 27, Nicola Entwistle, matron for children and young people at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will jump from a plane traveling at around 120 mph to do her freefall tandem skydive.
Nicola goes skydiving to raise money for Children’s Appeal, and her seat on the plane is one of 10 the team has reserved to encourage others to join her.

Lucy Clark, fundraiser for the appeal, said: “We are looking for thrill-seeking fundraisers on this occasion – people who have always wondered what it was like to jump out of a plane. !
“Maybe it’s on your to-do list or something saved to mark a special birthday.
“If that’s something you’re up for, get in touch with us as places are free, provided you’re able to meet a minimum sponsorship target of £395.
“I challenge you to help our Children’s Appeal!”

The appeal is raising £1million for a shopping list of items to improve the patient and family experience in children’s wards at Royal Preston Hospital, Chorley and South Ribble Hospital, the Broadoaks Child Development Center in Leyland and other facilities run by the Trust.
Nicola said, “I am honored every day to see the difference the charity team appeal makes to children and their families.
“It helps us as nurses go the extra mile and helps us do the ‘beautiful things’ that make a real difference and have a direct impact on patient care.”
