MDI High School Announces Training Changes

With the start of the fall high school sports season on Monday, August 15 and Sports Information Night on Thursday, August 11, the MDI High School Athletic Director announced a series of coaching changes for the fall seasons. fall, winter and spring.

Fall
College women’s soccer coach
Tyler Frank will replace May Chan. Tyler joins the women’s program after coaching the boys for the past 8 years. According to Bunky Dow, “Tyler is very familiar with community and school expectations and brings many years of experience coaching college football.”

Assistant Cross Country Coach
Bryan Dionne will replace Aaron Long as assistant coach of the cross country team. Bryan is the college athletic director at Connor Emerson and served as head cross country coach and college head coach for outdoor track for schools on the island.

Assistant Football Coach
Former head coach Mark Arnold will return as an assistant coach working with the offense. “Mark has been involved in high school and college football and will bring insight into offensive and defensive strategies for every game,” according to Dow.

Men’s Soccer Assistant Coach
Andrew Carlson has been coaching Soccer B at Mount Desert Elementary School for 3 years. He has also coached college track and field for the past 5 years.

JV Golf Coach
Frank DeRevere will coach the JV team this season. “Frank is a lifelong golfer and brings a wealth of knowledge to the team.”

There is still an opening for a JV Girls Soccer Coach.

Winter and spring season
Indoor and outdoor athletics head coach
Ezra Hallett will replace Aaron Long as head coach for the indoor and outdoor track. “Ezra was a longtime assistant coach under Aaron and will be a great replacement for Coach Long. Ezra is always looking for new coaching concepts and ways to improve and support students.”

JV boys basketball
Scott Morrill will replace Kyle Mckim as the JV Boys basketball player this season. “Kyle has been a longtime coach (basketball and baseball) in high school for 10 years and will be greatly missed. Scott has coached freshmen for the past 5 seasons and will step up to serve as JV Trainer.”

Assistant Outdoor Athletics Coach
Owen Logue will return as an outside athletics assistant after being absent last year due to other coaching duties. “Owen brings many years of experience and is a welcome addition to the staff.”

There are currently openings for 2 assistant indoor track coaches and a freshman boys basketball coach.
