Leaders Esteem Christian University mentoring children in Greater Houston

HOUSTON (KIAH) — A Houston resident helps children in her community through her new organization called Leaders Esteem Christian University.

It all started in 2020 at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an online university. Founder and Chancellor, Dr. Verna Caddy believes in instilling lasting values in our young people by encouraging them to continue their education.

Caddy has self-esteem programs and mentoring programs for boys and girls. The goal is to teach business etiquette, how to build relationships and inspire our youth to reach their full potential through faith-based learning.

“You have to prepare for success. Having a high school diploma is very good. And yes, college is not for everyone. But we want to teach our children. The Bible says train them in the way they should go. And so we have to train them so they know you can go beyond just a high school diploma,” Caddy said.

Dr. Caddy started her own library to provide books and educational resources to children in the community.
