Coaching session a ‘dream come true’ for children in Derry

Sixteen children from across Northern Ireland were treated to an expert coaching session, led by two of GAA’s biggest stars, Conor McKenna and Conor Glass, after winning a Shield Accident Management (SAM) competition.

Shield Accident Management, an accident management company, invited the kids to Eglish GAC to enjoy the cashless experience, Shield manager Monica Hughes said: “The kids were so excited to meet the players – it is a dream come true. for some of them who love sports.

“From the looks of determination on each child’s face during the session, it was clear how seriously they take the game, and we would like to commend them all for their efforts.”

Monica continued: “We would also like to give a big thank you to Eglish GAC for allowing us to use their pitches and MFC Sport for providing the bespoke kits for the kids.”

SAM Ambassador Conor McKenna, who helped his Tyrone side win the All Ireland Final last year, and Conor Glass, whose Glen side won the Derry Senior Football Championship for the first times in November 2021, were impressed with the talented youngsters.

Conor Glass, Glen and Derry GAA, said: “The efforts of the boys and girls have been immense.

“They really enjoyed their time with us and we enjoyed some great performances during training. A few stars of the future to watch.

Kate McAleer from MFC Sports, who supply quality team and leisure wear to clubs, schools and organisations, said: ‘It was a joy to see the kids running around the pitch in the kits we have specially designed for the winners of the Shield Accident Management coaching session. Everyone made themselves proud.

Shield Accident Management was created in 2018 to help relieve the stress of people who have suffered an accident.
